Silva Orthodontics
Dentistry as a profession runs in the Silva family. Not only was my father a dentist, but seven of my eleven siblings are also dentists. As an orthodontist in Lakewood, CO, I love what I do and enjoy providing the very best service to my patients. I feel blessed to be able to change teeth positions into the most beautiful smiles. I have been in education as a faculty member for the past 33 years of my life, I love to share what I do, what I know and also learn what I don't know.

I am an eternal student! I have found in dentistry a very rewarding profession, our patients are the best of our daily work, I love to interact with them, get to know them and share many things. Every day is a different opportunity to meet new patients and keep our office very friendly and welcoming. We are grateful for the opportunity our patients give us and seeing their confidence grow is one of our treasures.

When I'm not working, I enjoy painting, cooking and watching Colorado sunsets with friends. Now that you've met our team and Orthodontist, Lakewood residents interested in becoming a new patient contact us today for an appointment for specialized orthodontic care.

Do you need Orthodontics?
Lakewood residents should know the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children of about seven years are examined for the first time by an orthodontist (at that age permanent teeth begin to appear in the mouth) to identify any potential problem.
Early detection and orthodontic care in Lakewood can help prevent possible tooth extraction or possible problems later.
As for adults, as long as gums and the bone that support the teeth are healthy, these patients can be treated at any age.
Stainless steel (metal) are the most popular and traditional.
Metal braces straighten your teeth using and brackets and archwires.
Today the brackets are much smaller than they use to be and allow customization with different colors elastics.
Self-ligating braces are similar to traditional braces, however these type of braces do not require the use of elastics.
They are the same size as metal braces and use a special clip for the archwire to guide the teeth into line.
This means fewer adjustment visits, no elastics and less pressure on your teeth.

If it is determined that treatment is necessary during your child's first orthodontic consultation, it will require a two-phase approach.
The early treatment phase will begin right away, while your child still has most of their primary teeth.
OMG!, My world is going to end!
That can be a typical response when a teenager is told he or she will have to have braces.
Dr. Silva would like to assure all teens that those horror stories they have heard are not as bad as all that.
Today the brackets are much smaller than they use to be and allow customization with different colors elastics and wire guides.
You can wear your school colors or favorite team colors with pride!.
The length of treatment depends on several factors, primarily it revolves around what issues have to be corrected.
Adult braces are no longer as taboo as they once were, with more stylish and practical designs, braces are no longer just for children and teens.
The number one reason for adults to choose a Lakewood Orthodontist is the importance of a healthy mouth.
Misaligned or crooked teeth allow food and plaque to hide and over time lead to decay, gum inflammation and gum disease.
