Kent Island Pediatric Dentistry is a team of expert pediatric dentists who share a common goal: to redefine the way young people feel about "going to the dentist". By creating a truly positive in-office experience, we work to instill better oral hygiene habits, inspire children to take care of their teeth, and encourage healthy lifestyle changes that will last a lifetime.
We knew it would take a truly integrated effort to drive on these goals. In other words, it would take more than a fun waiting room. It takes a thoughtful, individualized approach customized to each patient. It takes an experienced staff that listens. It takes a true belief in education-taking the time to inform and explain good habits, or provide caregivers and parents clear options if treatments are needed.
And a fresh, state-of-the-art practice that weaves fun, technology and entertainment doesn't hurt, either. Get to know our staff. Led by Dr. Margaret McGrath, Kent Island Pediatric Dentistry brings a modern, inspired approach to pediatric dentistry, rooted in a firm commitment to the long-term health of the Kent Island community (and beyond).

Services
Community is at the heart of all that we do at Kent Island Pediatric Dentistry.
We believe in doing our part to ensure dental health can be extended to children who may not have the means to visit the dentist.
During National Children's Dental Health month, Kent Island Pediatric Dentistry visits local schools and daycare facilities.
Emphasis on brushing, flossing and diet is discussed with the children.
Dental decay is the most common chronic disease in children.
Brushing twice daily, using toothpaste with fluoride, flossing daily, having routine checkups and eating a diet low in sugary foods and drinks help prevent tooth decay.

Following treatment, your child's teeth, tongue, lips, and cheeks may be numb for an additional 1-2 hours.
Please watch your child; often they find this sensation unusual and may bite or play with the area leading to discomfort when the anesthesia has worn off.
If you are taking your child back to school or daycare, please inform their teacher or caretaker.
If crowns in the front were done, cut carrots, apples etc. in pieces and encourage your child to chew them with their back teeth.
Medications such as Tylenol or Motrin, as long as the child is permitted to take this medication based on their individual health history, are usually able to adequately control any discomfort.

More than 1 in 4 children in the United States have cavities by the time they are 4 years old.
That's a lot.
To that end, we believe in following the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's recommendation that your child visit us every six months after the eruption of the first tooth, or when they turn one.
Its about instilling preventative and routine oral care that will result in less painful-and potentially perilous-cavities or issues for your child.
And we work to make it positive, welcoming, and rewarding for both caregivers and our young patients.
