Even if you brush and floss your teeth every day, you still need a professional dental cleaning every six months or so.
A thorough dental cleaning from your dentist or dental hygienist takes about 25-30 minutes.
You need it done every six months to prevent plaque buildup.
Left untreated, excessive plaque can lead to unhealthy gums and tooth decay.
Your routine dental cleaning should include three things: scaling, root planing and polishing.
In plain English, here's a brief explanation.
This involves removing plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces using a variety of methods, depending on the amount of buildup.
Making teeth brighter and more attractive by bleaching (aka "whitening") has become very popular.
Whitening is a safe and relatively painless procedure for most patients.
We offer two methods of whitening: in-office whitening and tray whitening.
This method offers immediate results.
The entire process takes about an hour in our office, making it a convenient choice for busy individuals.
First, a protective gel applied to your gums to protect the soft tissue.
Then a special light-activated gel is applied to the teeth.
When you visit our office you'll receive the finest dental care using the most advanced technology available in every procedure.
Dr. Kluss uses CEREC Omnicam, the first full-color 3D intraoral camera, which enables us to create precision dental restorations for our patients in a single sitting.
CEREC stands for "Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, " or CEramic REConstruction."
This dental restoration tool allows us to produce ceramic dental restorations using a 3D photography and CAD/CAM computer software.
The brand is not as important as the type of bristle and size of the toothbrush head.
We recommend a soft brush with a small head because medium and hard brushes tend to cause irritation and gum recession.
A small head allows you to get around each tooth more completely and is less likely to injure your gums.
You don't need to "scrub" your teeth if you brush at least twice a day and visit your dentist at least twice a year for routine cleanings.
Flossing once a day helps prevent cavities, which can form between the teeth where your toothbrush can't reach.
