Utterback Dental Group
At our dental practice we are committed to providing excellent care and education regarding your oral health. This website serves as a foundation for your questions regarding our practice, as well as links to answer general questions about teeth. Of course, you are always more than welcome to contact either office via telephone or email if you have a question that cannot be answered by our webpage.

For Adults, the first visit to our office consists of a comprehensive exam that will allow us to evaluate your teeth, gums, and soft tissues. We will also review your medical history as well as any medications. For children, the first visit is usually with the dentist. We want new children to feel comfortable with their dentist since they will be seeing them for several years to come.
Services
Dr. Geoffrey Utterback, father of Dr. Ben Utterback, began the roots of our current practice in the mid 1970s.
After attending the University of Mount Union and Case Western Reserve University, he served as a dentist in the United States Navy.
Dr. Geoff returned to his hometown of Alliance, Ohio in 1975 to begin the dental practice.
A second office in Canton, Ohio was started in 1995 to better serve the practice's patient population.
Dr. John Beres joined the practice in 1993 and Dr. Ben Utterback joined in 2000.
Dr. Utterback is one of Northeast Ohio's only Diplomates of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
By achieving this status, Dr. Utterback is respected by both dental and medical colleagues as a professional who provides the best care to patients suffering from sleep disordered breathing issues such as obstructive sleep apnea and primary snoring.
He gladly accepts referrals from physicians and dentists who understand the role that Diplomates such as himself have when a patient has been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea or primary snoring by their physician.
A bright healthy smile can help you feel and look good throughout your life.
The first step in maintaining a healthy mouth is preventing tooth decay, and sealants can offer major protection against cavities.
Your teeth are covered with a sticky film of bacteria, called plaque.
Plaque bacteria use sugar and starch in food as a source of energy.
The bacteria convert the sugar or starch into harmful acids that attack tooth enamel for as long as 10 minutes or more.
Repeated attacks may cause the enamel to break down, resulting in cavities.
If you are faced with tooth loss, crown and bridge treatment may be the best option for you.
A bridge is a custom-made device anchored to neighboring natural teeth, which replaces one or more missing teeth.
When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to hold the bridge in place.
Bridges, sometimes referred to as a fixed partial denture, look natural and literally bridge the gap where one or more teeth may have been.
Fixed bridges appear and function similar to natural teeth and remain in the mouth at all times.
A smile can be the most eye-catching feature of a face.
With dentistry's many advances, you no longer have to settle for stained, chipped or misshapen teeth.
You now have choices that can help you smile with confidence.
Talk with your dentist about the options for improving your smile.
Veneers are thin custom-made shells that are designed to cover the front side of teeth.
Made of tooth-colored materials, veneers are used to treat spaces between teeth and teeth that are permanently stained, poorly shaped, chipped or slightly crooked.
