Services
Dental anxiety is a common anxiety for most people, including children who have a tendency to feel worried about visiting a dentist for routine medical treatment.
Luckily, several methods help these individuals feel less anxious, including the administration of local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia.
The safe and effective use of these modalities is an essential part of general and pediatric dentistry.
Sedation dentistry helps your children get the care they need and or even go to sleep in order to receive proper treatments.
Space maintainers are orthodontic devices used in pediatric dentistry.
The primary role of these devices is to prevent the misalignment of teeth, overcrowding, and other orthodontic conditions that can occur as a result of untimely baby tooth loss.
It is a customized appliance that is fabricated from acrylic or metal material.
It is either removable or can be cemented in a child's mouth.
A space maintainer's work is to maintain the gap between two or more baby teeth allowing for the new, permanent tooth to erupt and occupy the space.
It's easy to ignore, but a little bit of tooth decay or gum disease always leads to a little bit more.
The outcome of these untreated problems inevitably becomes pain, emergency treatment, and tooth loss.
So why does this happen?
It's an infection.
Millions of bacteria swarm our mouths, many of them harmless and even beneficial.
But a few bad characters wreak havoc on the hard and soft tissues of the mouth in many people.
Like all living creatures, they need an energy source.
Sugars are their snack of choice, and they use simple carbohydrates from our diet to manufacture energy.
Dental sealants offer a fast and easy way of safeguarding your child's teeth, serving as barriers to cavity-prone areas.
They are normally applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth and sometimes used to cover deep pits and grooves.
Both primary and permanent teeth of a child can be benefitted from sealants.
Sealants are considered to be relatively safe for children.
The dentist can apply the sealants in a relatively simple procedure.
The sealant is smeared onto the tooth enamel, where it bonds directly to the tooth and consequently hardens.
Oral conscious sedation offers an excellent solution for patients who suffer from moderate dental anxiety.
Oral conscious sedation to the child involves taking medication before their appointment.
The drug is taken before treatment and has a calming and relaxing effect on the patient receiving the scheduled treatment.
The effects of oral conscious sedation can take a while to wear off.
The goal of Oral Sedation is not to make you unconscious.
It is meant to just calm and relaxes you while the dentist carries out the treatment.
