Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dr. Kristen Knecht attended Louisiana State University where she received a BS in Biology. She immediately attended the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans where she graduated 2nd in her class. Dr. Knecht is a member of numerous professional societies for outstanding academic and clinical performance including the C. Edmund Kells Honorary Society and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society.
Before pursuing her DDS degree, Dr. Knecht knew she wanted to specialize, and began spending time in a local orthodontist's office. She quickly realized that this specialty was a perfect fit for her and her personality. She is a perfectionist who loves "attention-to-detail", and she was seeking a professional fit that would allow her disposition to impact peoples' lives in a profound and positive way.
One of the most important things to understand about choosing an orthodontist is that there truly is no "one size fits all" approach to what you are doing.

Generally speaking, a lot of people feel like going to the dentist is something that they do NOT look forward to.
Oftentimes, they even dread it.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that sometimes the services provided can be uncomfortable, yes.
For the entirety of her career, Dr. Knecht has made it a priority to positively change the way people think about orthodontics.
In many ways, it's one of the reasons why she founded her own practice in the first place.
Not only did she want to bring a superior level of care to such an incredible community, but she also wanted to make going to the orthodontist something to think about positively - and, dare we say, even possibly enjoy.

At Knecht Orthodontics, we pride ourselves on the fact that we do things a bit differently - especially compared to other providers you may have experienced in the past.
We believe that this is not only important - but it's also immediately evident from the moment you walk through the door.
First, you should know that your first visit is totally complimentary - you won't receive a bill in any way, shape or form.
This is necessary because Dr. Knecht and her team want everyone to be able to enjoy going to the orthodontist to improve their smile without spending time worrying about how they're going to pay for it.

If you have decided to get a set of braces for yourself, you should know that there are a few main types for you to choose from depending on your needs.
Traditional metal braces, which are exactly what they sound like (and are the type that most people are familiar with).
Here, steel brackets and metal wires are attached to the mouth and are used to correct orthodontic issues.
Ceramic braces, which are a newer alternative and are made from a ceramic material instead of metal.
The major benefit of this is that they are teeth-like in color which makes them nearly invisible in a lot of situations.
