Adventure Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Jim Mason grew up in Gloucester, Virginia and Newport News, attending Peninsular Catholic High School in Newport News. He then studied physics during his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. During his undergraduate studies he became interested in piloting, along with medicine & dentistry. Upon graduation, he became an active duty officer in the Air Force and began his studies at Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry.

Dr. Jim was the Chief Resident while getting his Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate. It is during this time that he became interested in Pediatrics. Dr. Jim served overseas at RAF Upwood as Chief of Dental Support and specialized in treating the children of the military. He also served at Osan Air Force Base in South Korea before being accepted for specialty pediatric dental training at University of Alabama where he also received additional training for special needs patients.

After studying in Alabama for two years, he again served overseas at RAF Lakenheath where he concentrated again on pediatric dental care for military families.
Services
This includes proper brushing, flossing and eating habits, ideal fluoride levels and the use of pit and fissure sealants.
We strive to provide a fun, educational environment whose children learn about the importance of good dental hygiene.
This includes children's fillings, crowns and prosthesis, including treatment of the often devastating nursing bottle decay.
Our doctors are committed to discussing all options before these procedures and answering all questions you may have.
Always working for the goal of a healthy smile is our first priority.
A pediatric dentist, like Dr. Jim, has an extra two years of specialized training after dental school and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.
The very young, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with behavior, guiding their growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems.
With the additional education, pediatric dentists have the training which allows them to offer the most up-to-date and thorough treatment for a wide variety of pediatric dental problems.

My son had his first visit with the dentist today and Adventure did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, my son loved it. The staff was so pleasant and we even got to meet the office pup, River. I can't recommend this place enough for parents. They make it fun for the whole family.

My daughter did so excellent because the staff are great and she loved her time there and didn’t want to leave! They showed my daughter all the tools and even let her test them out! The office was so cute, comfortable and kid friendly.. and they had the cutest dogs to assist! Thank you Dr. Mason and staff!

We visited Dr. Mason & his team when my daughter was only 13 days old for a tongue/lip frenectomy. While you can only be comforted so much while your newborn has a procedure, they made the process quick and easy. They explained everything that would take place and Dr. Mason came out to our car himself to speak with us as soon as the procedure was complete. They checked in on us later that day and over the next several days to make sure there were no complications. Very happy with our visit there!
