Services
In the field of pediatric dentistry, establishment of a child-centered environment is one of the rapports we are pleased to offer to make your kid as comfy as possible during his/her dental visit.
Treatment plan will be individually tailored to meet every child's best interest and achieve his/her well-being and caries-free.
Caregivers are advised to finish kids'meal/feeding 3 hours before the appointment.
Due to the nature of dentistry, gag reflex is often found even during checkup or cleaning.
It is likely children come in with full stomach will encounter aspiration pneumonia if kids become gaggy and vomit.
We also encourage children go to bathroom before they sit in dental chair.
Kids tend to go to bathroom more often under stress.
Once treatment is initiated, we need to complete in a timely fashion before local anesthesia wears off (if needed) or little ones out of patience.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age.
Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
The Dental Home is intended to provide a place other than the Emergency Room for parents.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
In our day to day practice, we are careful to use words that create a positive and relaxing mindset when it comes to interacting with children.
You can help your child have a good first visit by introducing them to dentists and dental care via discussion in a very positive and general manner; for instance, explaining that the dentist helps keep their teeth happy and healthy, and that we will be very gentle when we look into their mouth to count and tickle their teeth.
Using words like needle, shot, drill, pull or any other words suggesting unpleasantness should be avoided.
Outside of our practice, we develop this "Little Sunshine Dental Education Program" to implement the knowledge of proper brushing and flossing, and healthy food selection to children in the neighborhood.
We believe it is beneficial if kids start practicing brushing and flossing, and be aware of their diet early.
We can visit your school or day care.
There are already over 35 schools and day care we have been to for this mission and still going strong.
