Respect for culture - preserving and promoting our American Indian and Alaska Native heritage and identity while embracing all other cultures with acceptance and compassion.
Excellence - seeking excellence in all our services, business practices, and community partnerships.
Every now and then, something gets the best of us.
Whether it is a feeling like sadness, a behavior like hyperactivity, a reaction like anger, or things in life adding up and getting stressful.
These things can affect us in different ways: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
You are not alone.
Counseling and support services consist of outpatient mental and behavioral health services.
We are committed to decolonizing our healing work with clients and include traditional and cultural practices in our services.
Our clinic includes the hand drum because we know this practice provides direct and indirect healing benefits.
The protective factors the hand drum promotes are wellness and prevention.
Together, youth up to age 24 make traditional drums, learn to hand drum, and sing songs to maintain balance.
Our classes and groups run quarterly.
Drum Teachings for Success is an initiative the promotes the use and development of evidence-based and practice-based models.
These culturally-appropriate prevention and treatment approaches allow our practitioners to implement and integrate traditional healing and behavioral wellness models in our community.
Indian Health Board (IHB) of Minneapolis is committed to increasing the number of psychology professionals with culturally-aware training and clinical experiences to serve the American Indian community as part of our overall mission to ensure access to quality healthcare for the community and others in need via our APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship.
As such, our internship in clinical psychology is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association and is a member of the Association for Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) that accepts two psychology interns each year.
