Dr. Shiotsu is highly respected by his colleagues, who often refer their patients to him for help in resolving complex and challenging dental situations. He is one of a handful of dentists in the U.S. to receive certified university-based specialty training in both the surgical and restorative aspect of implant dentistry. He is a national lecturer and an author, often asked to speak on the topic of implants and esthetic dentistry.
We use the latest technology to provide the best care for our patients, including microscopes, which allows for closer inspection of restorations and reduce patient discomfort with decreased healing time.

As you can probably know, it is always easier to prevent dental problems rather than treat them.
The best thing you can do for your oral health is brush your teeth about twice a day (typically after meals and before bed), and floss about once a day (to remove food, plaque, and bacteria from hard-to-reach places).
Routine checkups and cleanings are also a vital part of preventive dentistry.
Even with a strong oral hygiene regimen, tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental disease can still occur.

Preparing the Jawbone: sometimes dental implants require another surgery called bone grafting.
This can happen when there is not enough bone to support an implant, or the jawbone is too thin.
Once the bone regenerates, you are ready for your new implants.
Implanting: our surgeon implants the titanium rod or stake in the jawbone.
The recovery from the dental implant surgery will depend on each patient but generally takes between three to six months.
Adding the connector: once the gums have healed and the bone has regenerated, we will add a connector that will support the crown.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is caused by a blockage of the airways usually when the back of the throat collapses while sleeping.
It happens more in men than women, and it is the most common type of sleep apnea.
Central Sleep Apnea, in this case, there is no blockage of the airways.
However, there is an interruption of communication between the brain and the breathing muscles.
CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure - this is the most common treatment, and it consists of wearing a mask over your nose and mouth for sleeping.
