We are a pediatric dental practice. Pediatric Dentists differ from general/family dentists in that they have an extra two years of training after dental school that specifically prepares them to focus on the comprehensive growth, development, and unique dental needs of infants, children (including those with special health care needs), and teens. Dr. Phillips is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Our staff takes great pride in being a pediatric dental office and considers it a privilege to be entrusted with the care of your little ones. At the Little Smile Co. Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, our goal is to provide your child(ren) with optimal oral health and a smile that lasts a lifetime in an environment that is fun, warm, caring, and "child-friendly".
We focus on education, preventive care, positive motivation, and quality treatment to help each child grow a healthy smile. The Little Smile Co. Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is located in Cleveland, MS and serves the surrounding Mississippi Delta region including cities of Clarksdale, Greenville, and Greenwood.

Services
Having been born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, I am am no stranger to the Cleveland community and all it has to offer.
In fact, I was born at Bolivar Medical Center, the same great hospital where I currently maintain privileges for the provision of full mouth dental treatment under general anesthesia.
I am a graduate of Clarksdale High School, and completed my undergraduate degree at Xavier University of Louisiana where I studied chemistry and biology.
From there I attended the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, obtaining the Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.

Our practice values each individual child, and we recognize that children with special health care needs require a dental practice that is open and understanding.
Children with special health care often experience a higher risk of oral diseases which can effect their quality of life and long term health.
Each of our patients are treated on a case by case basis with a particular emphasis on their specific needs.
Because parents and caregivers know their children better than anyone else, each visit begins by listening to the special circumstances of each child.

Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry all recommend establishing a Dental Home for your child by their first birthday.
Children with a dental home are more likely to receive proper preventive care, and routine oral health treatment.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable positive.
Inform your child of the visit and tell them that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.

Our office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience.
Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are more awake, and we can work more slowly with them for their comfort.
School children with a lot of homework should be seen in the morning for the same reason.
Dental appointments are an excused absence, and missing school can be minimal when regular dental care is scheduled.
Since appointed times are reserved for each patient, we ask that you please notify our office at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you must cancel.
