Firstly, you might be asking what the difference between a crown and a cap is.
The answer is that nothing at all is different, they are both interchangeable terms which describe a permanent restoration that goes over a tooth, covering 360'.
Crowns (or caps) are made in a laboratory and are typically restorations that are needed when a tooth has been fractured or has become extensively decayed.
A crown will completely restore your tooth to normal appearance and function.
If you want a smile that's your crowning glory, you may need a crown (aka cap) to cover a tooth to help restore it to its normal shape and size.

A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth and literally "bridges" the gap where one or more teeth used to be.
Bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials and are attached to surrounding teeth for support.
A bridge is cemented firmly in place.
An implant bridge attaches artificial teeth directly to the jaw or under the gum tissue.
Depending on which type of bridge your dentist recommends, its success depends on the foundation.
So it's very important to keep your remaining teeth healthy and strong.

Over time amalgam fillings absorb moisture and swell causing the edges of the filling to break away.
This allows food and bacteria to get trapped in spaces and cavities to form.
When we recommend replacing a worn silver filling we take into consideration the amount of healthy tooth structure that remains.
Often we can replace a small filling with a tooth colored one that is bonded to the tooth.
One disadvantage of amalgam is that these types of fillings are not natural looking, especially when the filling is near the front of the mouth, where it may show when you laugh or speak.
