The guidelines have changed! In order to prevent early childhood cavities it is recommended that your child see a pediatric dentist when their first tooth erupts or no later than their first birthday. If your child should have a small cavity or even an infected tooth, Dr. Espinosa will provide the upmost in quality restorative treatment to maintain the form and function of the mouth.

A sealant is a protective coating that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, filling in the natural pits and grooves. This creates a barrier between food, plaque, acid, and these cavity prone areas. If your child should sustain an injury to the mouth or experience dental pain, please give our office a call. Dr. Espinosa is available for emergencies during and after office hours.

Born and raised in Sacramento, I left the family nest to achieve my Bachelors degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Barbara.
Since I was a child I dreamed of becoming a dentist, therefore I was ecstatic to have been accepted into UC San Francisco School of Dentistry.
During my dental education I completed a NIH/Fogarty International Research and Global Health Fellowship.
I lived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and worked in the children/adolescent wing of a HIV/TB clinic.
The guidelines have changed!
In order to prevent early childhood cavities it is recommended that your child see a pediatric dentist when their first tooth erupts or no later than their first birthday.
This allows Dr. Espinosa to develop a prevention plan unique to your child's needs and family life.
In addition, early exposure to a kid friendly dental environment will help the patient feel more comfortable at the office and ensure a positive dental experience at an earlier age.
Following your child's first dental visit it is recommended to maintain twice yearly dental exams to monitor their oral health, growth, and development.
Nitrous oxide, Oral Conscious Sedation, and IV Sedation are different types of sedation offered by Dr. Espinosa to ensure your child's anxiety is eased when visiting the dentist.
Patients, big and small, can be slightly nervous for dental treatment, despite previous positive experiences at routine dental check-ups or even a positive treatment appointment.
Nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas" or what Dr. Espinosa likes to call "happy air", is a great option to help them relax and feel comfortable.
If your child should have a small cavity or even an infected tooth, Dr. Espinosa will provide the upmost in quality restorative treatment to maintain the form and function of the mouth.
Dental caries, known as cavities or tooth decay, is the number one infectious disease of children.
It is not uncommon for children to develop dental decay, especially when primary teeth, also known as baby teeth, are smaller, thinner, less dense or calcified, and children's diets are high in carbohydrates and sugars.
