A periodontist is trained to provide treatment for gum disease and restore missing teeth with dental implants.
Periodontists specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum related problems and work to improve oral health.
Periodontal disease is most often painless in the early and moderate phases and then may become more noticeable and symptomatic in the later stages when it's more difficult to control.
If you have any, some, or all of the following symptoms then you need to see a periodontist right away: periodic bleeding or taste of blood in your mouth, any swelling of the gums that comes and goes, bad taste in your mouth, pain on flossing, on brushing, or on chewing or biting, shifting of your teeth or increase spacing between your teeth, or food trapping.

The BALTIMORE PERIODONTICS' HOPE FOR THE HOMELESS program started in the Fall of 2018 when we let patients know that we were collecting canned food to help to feed the homeless in our community.
Due to the wonderful success we had with our own office for this project, we decided to expand this idea and partner with the many dental offices whom we work with, in the community.
The participating dental offices share our goal: TO BE A SOURCE OF HELP/HOPE TO OTHERS LESS FORTUNATE IN OUR COMMUNITY.
In the Fall of 2019, with the outstanding leadership of one of our amazing hygienists, Constance, we partnered with 10 other dental offices in the community and together we were able to collect a total of 484 canned food items for the Day Resource Center in Jessup, MD!
