A crown (cap) is a restoration that is placed on teeth that have lost a lot of their structure.
There are various types of crowns, ranging from full porcelain to full metal.
Dr. Tavabi will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each kind for you.
The process of making a crown includes a number of steps, beginning with preparing and taking impressions of the tooth/teeth involved.
A temporary crown or bridge is then placed on your teeth.
Meanwhile, the impressions are sent to the lab where a mold of the teeth is poured and the work begins.
Teeth stains are inevitable due to our consumption of a variety of foods and drinks (soda, spicy food, coffee, etc.).
However, advanced teeth whitening technology has enabled dentists to whiten teeth without adversely affecting the tooth structure.
Almost all whitening methods are similar in concept, but some are much more effective because of the way the whitening material is delivered to the teeth.
Another contributing factor is the concentration of the material, which is why less potent over-the-counter whitening systems usually don't give patients the results they are hoping for.
Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth without braces.
Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth, without metal or wires.
Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position from which a series of custom-made, clear "aligners" are produced.
Each "aligner" moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks, then is replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.
