Tooth restorations are the various ways we can replace missing teeth or repair missing parts of the tooth structure.
Tooth structure can be missing due to decay; deterioration of a previously placed restoration; or fracture of a tooth.
Fillings are the most common type of dental restoration.
Teeth can be filled with gold, silver amalgam, or tooth-colored plastic materials called composite resin fillings.
Crowns are a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, appearance, to hold a bridge in place or cover a dental implant.
Traditionally, prosthodontic crowns were comprised of porcelain-fused-to-metal or PFM.
This solid combination is still used by our dental professionals as a simple, cost effective option.
More recently however, the introduction of fully ceramic Procera crowns have changed the aesthetic appearance of many smiles.
Procera crowns function in exactly the same way as traditional crowns, but their fully ceramic composition means that the restoration looks far more natural.
Dental crowns are usually placed to strengthen an injured tooth.
BruxZir Solid Zirconia is a monolithic zirconia crown, bridge, screw-retained implant crown, inlay or onlay with no porcelain overlay.
First launched as being "More Brawn Than Beauty, " the material was originally intended to provide a durable, more esthetic alternative to posterior metal occlusal PFMs or cast gold restorations for demanding situations like bruxers, implant restorations and areas with limited occlusal space.
Now, thanks to the new BruxZir Shaded formulation, BruxZir restorations exhibit improved translucency and color similar to natural dentition, making them a restorative option in the anterior as well.
