Here at Kitfox Pediatric Dentistry our number one goal is to treat your child so that he or she will look forward to coming to the dentist. We, of course, will take care of your child's teeth and gums, but more importantly, we will create a welcoming, fun environment - one in which there will be no reason for your child to fear the dentist. We want our patients to grow up to be adults with great teeth, great dental habits, and no worries about going to the dentist.
We will teach you how to ensure your child will have a healthy, sparkling smile for life!

Services
Just like children benefit from seeing a pediatrician for their general healthcare, we believe that your child's dental health will benefit from seeing a pediatric dentist.
Children are not just little adults - and just like the pediatrician knows the specific needs of your child's overall health, a pediatric dentist understand the specific needs of your child's dental health.
As your child develops into the pre-teen and adolescent years, we will adapt our care to their developing needs.
A pediatric dentist is particularly trained in understanding the personalities of young people and in creating an environment where they can be comfortable and easily receive quality dental care.

We first will work to make your child comfortable in the dental setting and will address and concerns or worries your child may have.
Only after your child is comfortable will we worry about the teeth.
We will explain things to your child in a fashion that's appropriate for their age without using and scary sounding words.
We want your child to leave our office happy.
Sometimes that may mean we don't get everything done that we intended to get done, but the most important thing is that your child leaves feeling accomplished, happy, and ready to come back to the dentist.

Please Keep Your Appointments - When you make an appointment for your child, we are setting aside a specific amount of Dr. Thom's time just for you so that your child will have Dr. Thom's complete attention.
We do not double book assuming that a certain percentage of patients will not keep their appointments.
If you do not keep your appointment, then Dr. Thom will have nothing to do but twiddle his thumbs and bother the staff until the next patient arrives.
More importantly, you may be taking away valuable appointment time that could have been used for another patient.

A pediatric dentist is a dentist who trains an additional two years to specialize in treating infants, children, teenagers, and special needs patients.
Just like a pediatrician is best suited to treat the medical needs of your child, a pediatric dentist is trained to provide specialized care for your child's teeth.
Earlier than you may think!
The simplest answer is by the time your child is one year old.
A more complicated answer is within 6 months of the first tooth erupting.
Either way, most parents don't realize how important early involvement with the pediatric dentist can be.

Children often have dental injuries.
Whether it's a toddler who is learning to walk or a teen who's playing sports, injuries to the face, mouth, and teeth are common.
If your child loses consciousness, vomits, or has unusually sized pupils, then see a physician immediately.
Deal with the dental injury after seeing the physician.
Direct pressure with a clean gauze or washcloth can help control bleeding until you can seek help from the dentist.
Control the bleeding and call our office.
Don't try to put the tooth back in the mouth - that could damage the developing permanent tooth.
