Daily flossing, to clean between the teeth and under the gumline removes additional plaque.
Take about 18 inches of floss and wrap it around the middle finger of each hand.
Make sure the floss is pulled tightly between your fingers, using your thumbs and forefingers, gently slide the floss between two teeth.
Curving it around each tooth, move the floss up and down against each tooth and between the tooth and gum as high or as low as it will comfortably go under the gumline.

A: Cavities are formed from plaque build-up.
Plaque forms on teeth every day and produces harmful acids.
Plaque acids attack the enamel (outermost tissue of tooth) and weaken it.
If the acids attack long enough, they eat through the enamel into the dentin (tissue layer below the enamel) and form a cavity (hole).
