Services
A comprehensive examination is the foundation of good dental care.
It allows the doctor, hygienist and patient to get to know each other, and discuss the reason for your visit.
It's important for you to let our staff know about any medical conditions you have, any allergies, and any prescription drugs you take.
You are more than a collection of teeth and your general health is of great concern to us.
Please also let us know about any special circumstances that may affect your dental care, such as; medical conditions, participation in sports or previous major dental work.
A cavity is caused by the acid produced by the bacteria in your mouth and on your teeth.
Brushing and flossing regularly, as well as regular dental cleanings will greatly reduce the likelihood that this acid will have the chance to erode a hole in your tooth (cavity).
Unlike bone and skin, a tooth is not able to heal itself or fill in the hole.
That's why a dental filling is necessary.
At first, the cavity isn't painful.
If it gets large enough and deep enough to reach the nerve, it will become extremely painful.
A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over a natural tooth that's been damaged by decay or injury past the point that it can be restored with a filling.
The crown restores the function and appearance of the tooth while preventing future decay.
If you have a tooth that's severely cracked or broken, or has a major cavity that hasn't left much of the natural tooth, a crown is the best type of treatment.
The material most often used to make a crown is porcelain.
We also offer a newer material called zirconia.
Tooth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry services.
Everyone wants a bright, white smile.
It increases your confidence, and enhances your appearance.
Whitening may not be the best choice for all tooth discoloration.
If your teeth are yellowish, you'll get an excellent result.
Brownish discoloration will get good results, but may not get completely white without follow-up and at-home treatments.
Gray, blue or black discoloration that can result from antibiotic use when the teeth were formed in childhood, dental injury or previous root canal treatment is embedded in the inner tooth layer and may not be completely eliminated even with an in-office whitening treatment.
Adult tooth loss is a concerning problem for many Americans.
While decay was the main culprit leading to this devastating oral condition in earlier decades, periodontal disease has risen to claim the primary role in tooth loss today.
In fact, according to Perio.org, half of all U.S. adults aged 30 and over are affected by periodontitis.*
As such, finding a viable solution for replacing missing teeth caused by periodontal infection or other conditions is a concern among many patients.
Dr. Reuben Jamharian is a leading implant dentist who can restore function and stability to a beautiful smile with dental implants in Albuquerque, NM.
