Lower Merion Pediatric Dentistry
Located in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and serving all of the Main Line, we provide the most technologically advanced treatment for children, infants and teens in a warm and friendly environment. We had a very nice experience with Lower Merion Pediatric Dentistry. The front desk was responsive and helpful with coordinating paperwork before our appointment.

Dr. Horchos was engaging and thoughtful about the dental checkup process with both of my kids (ages 2 and 5). He explained each step of the checkup in a fun and engaging manner for them. Dr. Horchos was also thoughtful in responding to my questions and concerns. Patient and understanding, he gave me a full debrief on the dental outlook for my 5 year old including what he anticipates the next few years to be like from a growth perspective given her x-rays.

This was really informative and helpful for my husband and I to begin setting expectations and planning for my daughters dental care over the next few years. WOW. This was truly appreciated and IMO went above and beyond.
Services
Your child's first experiences with the dentist should be as comfortable and relaxed as possible to establish a lifetime of positive associations.
We'd like to tell you a little more about how we accomplish that at Lower Merion Pediatric Dentistry.
Pediatric dentists have two additional years of training to specialize in the unique treatment needs of children.
We are NOT trying to be the biggest practice, getting as many patients in and out the door as rapidly as possible, but we DO provide the most technologically advanced treatment in a warm and friendly environment.
Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommends that your child visit the dentist by his or her first birthday.
You can make visits to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
Once your young child becomes verbal, discuss the upcoming visit, telling him or her that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
The less to-do concerning the visit, the better.
The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available.
We are excited to announce that we are now participating as an in-network provider with Delta Dental and United Concordia (Elite Plus ONLY.)
We also gladly accept most other types of insurance as partial payment.
We submit claims on your behalf, and after we receive payment from your insurance company, we will send you a bill for the difference.
The difference between our fees and the amount that your insurance pays us is your responsibility.
If you have Blue Shield or United Concordia (regular, not Elite Plus) dental insurance, payment is due at the time of service.
For more information concerning pediatric dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.
The very young, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with their behavior, guiding their dental growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems.
If the procedure was in the lower jaw, then the tongue, teeth, lip and surrounding tissue will be numb or asleep.
If the procedure was in the upper jaw, then the teeth, lip and surrounding tissue will be numb or asleep.
Often, children do not understand the effects of local anesthesia, and may chew, scratch, suck, or play with the numb area.
These actions can cause minor irritations, or they can be severe enough to cause swelling and abrasions to the tissue.
Watch for darkening of traumatized teeth as this could be an indication of a dying nerve (pulp).
