His hobby of chess brought him to the United States in 1997 when he was invited to play at the American Open in Los Angeles, California.
He received his California Dental License in 2002 and continues to stay up to date in dentistry with continuing education courses.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Fresno-Madera Dental Society, and Better Business Bureau.

Marina has 2 daughters, Alizay, Aliyah and a wonderful husband.
