Services
I treat patients as if they were my family.
I want to serve you with the highest quality dentistry possible, make your comfort a priority, and give you all of the options so you may decide what best meets your needs.
Richard Van Der Sluys received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Bowling Green State University and graduated from the Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 1992 with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Since that time, he has worked in a variety of settings in Ohio before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 1999.
We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs.
Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.
We are pleased to welcome you and your family, and we look forward to working with you.
I am Dr. Van Der Sluys's assistant and have been for the last 6 years.
I grew up here in Redmond but I completed dental assisting school in Wichita KS where I lived for 5 years.
In addition to the information found of the crown page, crowns are used in cosmetic dentistry.
They are the best option when the tooth is heavily damaged or when a veneer will not bond well.
The newer, all porcelain crowns are my first choice because they look the most natural tooth and will not result in a dark line if the gums recede.
Our office will continue to work with you until you are happy with the look of your new crown.
At the first appointment, we routinely take pictures of the surrounding teeth and send them to the lab with your case.
Bleaching teeth to make them whiter has become a very popular and safe procedure.
Whether it's because of tetracycline use during childhood, genetics, or a lifetime of staining foods, most discolored teeth will lighten in color after professional bleaching.
When it comes to bleaching, there are many different options available.
The basic ingredient is the same in all products, but varies in concentration and form.
Over-the-counter products are not allowed to have the higher concentrations of bleach that a dentist uses.
The TMJ is the joint that connects the jaw to the skull.
It is a complex system and is located near the ears.
When people say they have TMJ, what they are really saying is that they have TMD which is temporomandibular joint disorder.
People with TMD may experience clicking or popping in the ears, pain in the joint, or arthritis.
This may be caused by a variety of things like excessive grinding (bruxism), trauma, or teeth that don't fit well together.
Some of these issues can be managed in our office by wearing a professionally made night guard.
