He served as the Team Dentist for the Northwestern University Athletic Department.
His nine-year tenure included the Rose, Citrus, Alamo, and Motor City Bowls with the football team.
In 2005, 2008 and 2012, Dr. Tye was named as one of Chicagoland's Top Dentists by Chicago Consumers' Checkbook Magazine (each year that the evaluations were made).
In 2009 he was also featured in The Chicago Magazine as one of Chicagoland's Top 40 Dentists.
