Dr. Jay Kappenman started his practice in 1987 inspired by his father, James, who practiced dentistry for 42 years. With the addition of his sister Tami and son Will to the practice, family dentistry takes on a whole new meaning. Our entire family and staff are passionate about dental health and providing patients with superior dental care. We're committed to developing relationships that last for generations, after all, it's in the family.

Amalgam fillings have been a hallmark of dentistry for decades.
Amalgam or silver fillings are often the most predictable way to restore teeth that are broken or have cavities.
For those that would prefer tooth colored fillings (composites) are also a great esthetic way to restore your smile.
There are circumstances in which composite serves better than amalgams and vice-versa.
For example, when a more conservative preparation would be beneficial, composite is the recommended restorative material.

In dentistry, a veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect the tooth's surface from damage.
There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer: composite and dental porcelain.
A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth.
Lumineers are thin porcelain shields that are bonded to the front of your teeth co create dramatic changes in your smile and can usually be accomplished with minimal tooth structure removal.

If you are unsure or uncomfortable about this early care, we would be happy to review good oral care with you as soon as teeth are visable.
We start seeing children as early as age 2. At this visit the hygienist will polish the child's teeth and the dentist will do an exam and answer any questions parents have about their child's oral health.
The dentist may also recommend fluoride be applied to help prevent tooth decay.
