A knocked out baby tooth is rarely placed back in the mouth.
It is important that your child be examined to determine the extent of the trauma and to make sure that no piece of the tooth is still embedded in the gum.
Find the tooth.
Hold the tooth by the crown and rinse it gently with milk or water (do not scrub).
If possible replace the tooth in the socket and hold it there with a clean cloth or piece of gauze.
If you cannot put the tooth back in the socket, place the tooth in a clean container with milk or saliva.
