Services
Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age.
Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
If we have received all of your insurance information on the day of the appointment, we will be happy to file your claim for you.
You must be familiar with your insurance benefits, as we will collect from you the estimated amount insurance is not expected to pay.
By law your insurance company is required to pay each claim within 30 days of receipt.
We file all insurance electronically, so your insurance company will receive each claim within days of the treatment.
You are responsible for any balance on your account after 30 days, whether insurance has paid or not.
A toothbrush will remove plaque bacteria that can lead to decay.
Any soft-bristled toothbrush with a small head, preferably one designed specifically for infants, should be used at least once a day at bedtime.
In order to prevent dental problems, your child should see a pediatric dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than his/her first birthday.
Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry.
A pediatric dentist has two to three years specialty training following dental school and limits his/her practice to treating children only.
In Lubbock Dr. Johnson DDS, is on a mission to work with parents in order to ensure their children form good dental habits early on.
Many studies have shown that children who learn to brush their teeth floss their teeth, and visit their Lubbock Pediatric Dentist regularly are more likely to maintain healthy teeth through adulthood.
These same children were also less likely to have cavities, and were more likely to have good overall health.
Visiting a pediatric dentist is a great place to start teaching your child how to maintain their teeth.
