Doctor Nyasha M. Scott is a unique children's dentist. With her youthful style and fun personality, she gets kids excited about their dental care. If your child is experiencing any of the conditions or symptoms below, he or she may need urgent dental care. If your child is experiencing a toothache, you can first check to see if they have anything caught in the teeth.

If your child has a chipped or broken tooth and you are able to locate the tooth fragment, place it in cold milk and call us immediately. If bleeding has occurred, apply pressure with a cloth and place a cold compress to reduce swelling. Eat or drink foods and liquids at room temperature to avoid causing sensitivity. Clean the area gently with a cloth.

Apply ice/cold compress to any bruised/swollen areas. If there is bleeding, apply firm but gentle pressure with a gauze or cloth. If bleeding does not stop after 15 minutes or it cannot be controlled by simple pressure, take the child to the hospital emergency room. Displaced teeth, or teeth pushed out of alignment, should be evaluated soon after an injury has occurred so that we can determine whether it is a primary or a permanent tooth and if it can be repositioned.

The miracle we've all been waiting for is here-SOLEA.
Now available at Little House of Smiles, SOLEA is a powerful dental laser that replaces the dental drill in the majority of procedures in our practice.
It causes virtually no pain, vibration, or noise.
In fact, nearly every patient skips anesthesia because they just don't need it.
SOLEA is our way of keeping you happy.
Because more than anything, we love to see you smile.
SOLEA is the first CO2 dental laser system cleared by the FDA for hard and soft tissue procedures.
Your child should visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive one.
Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and his staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
We know a positive experience can set the tone for your child's future dental health.
That is why our office has been designed to be "kid-friendly."
Even more importantly, our pediatric dentists and professional staff have dedicated their careers to helping children.
In pediatrics, usually, the front four teeth begin to appear when the baby is between 6 to 12 months.
Some babies experience sore or tender gums while teething.
Gently rubbing the child's gums with a clean finger or wet gauze can be soothing.
A clean teething ring may also help.
Contrary to common belief, fever is not normal while teething.
If a fever is present, call your physician.
Most children have a full set of 20 primary (baby) teeth by age 3.
Primary teeth are as important as permanent teeth - for chewing, speaking, and appearance.
Our office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when the time is available.
Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort.
School-aged children for routine visits can be scheduled throughout the day.
Most treatment appointments will be scheduled in the morning.
Our afternoon appointments are for routine visits and older children requiring minor dental treatment.
If you arrive late for your appointment, we will make every effort to see your child.
