He and his wife live in Mt. Pleasant and have two children. They enjoy music, tennis, and their golden retriever. Dr. Rivers was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant. He achieved his undergraduate degrees in both Marine Biology and Business Administration from the College of Charleston, and then moved on to get his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina.
