Dental amalgam is a stable alloy made by combining elemental mercury, silver, tin, copper and possibly other metallic elements.
Because amalgam fillings can withstand very high chewing loads, they are particularly useful for restoring molars in the back of the mouth where chewing load is greatest.
They are also useful in areas where a cavity preparation is difficult to keep dry during the filling replacement, such as in deep fillings below the gum line.
We are always happy to welcome new patients to our dental practice!
Bring the completed forms with you to help expedite the first visit process.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office and a member of our staff will be glad to assist you.
We're looking forward to meeting you!
A: Silver, or amalgam fillings, are still a traditional way of filling teeth to repair cavities.
The silver fillings are a good option and work well for teeth repair.
Tooth-colored fillings, also known as composite fillings, blend in with the natural color of your teeth and help your teeth to look cavity-free.
