SDF, Silver Diamine Fluoride is a liquid that when applied to teeth without removing the decay actually stops the decay from advancing.
It is normally better to remove the decay and do a filling but in those cases where the patient cannot be easily treated or the patient cannot afford to treat all of the decay at once we now have an alternative.
Very young children or elderly patients with rampant decay now can easily and inexpensively be treated.
