He is a graduate of Cape Fear High School, Brigham Young University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
While attending UNC he received several honors and recognitions including: Induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Fraternity, UNC Senior Dental Student Award, International College of Dentistry Senior Dental Award, and the Academy of General Dentistry Award.

During her studies, she was the recipient of many academic scholarships, as well as two research fellowships.
