Dr. Erica DeFabio of DeFabio Dental Design is a specialty-trained prosthodontist. A prosthodontist is an advanced practitioner of general dentistry and cosmetic procedures. Becoming a new jersey prosthodontist requires 3 years beyond dental school. In these 3 years, one is taught a deeper understanding of the dynamics of a smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth, and the creation of tooth replacements, dental implants, and other advanced cosmetic dentistry procedures.

Dr. Edward DeFabio of DeFabio Dental Design is a “Jersey Boy.” He grew up in Short Hills, attended Newark Academy, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Middlebury College and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry.

After finishing school, Dr. DeFabio opened the doors to his dental office in Colts Neck and has maintained this practice location ever since. His professional interests are esthetics, adhesion dentistry, minimally invasive microscopic dentistry, advanced restorative dentistry, removable prosthodontics, and endodontics.

Dr. DeFabio was very active with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, serving on the Board of Directors from 1986-1994. He was a Founding Member and President of the New York Chapter of the AACD from 1988-1990. In 1987, Dr. DeFabio became the first accredited member from New Jersey of the AACD. He also served as National Program Chair for the organization in 1994.

Dr. Erica DeFabio is excited to fulfill her dream of joining her father in practice after all her years of school and training. She attended the Rumson Country Day School and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School before heading off to college. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and was also inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the Honor Society of Nursing.

Dr. DeFabio attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She was the recipient of the Dr. Frank Frates Outstanding Clinician Award, an honor given to the best clinician in the graduating class.

Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. DeFabio completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She continued at the Manhattan VAMC for an additional three years, completing a residency in the specialty of prosthodontics.

Sonata is a registered dental hygienist and a registered dental assistant. She has been a member of our team since 2005 and is in charge of our hygiene department. Sonata brings her knowledge, expertise, and dedication to treat and maintain the periodontal health of our patients. She is also licensed to administer local anesthesia, an achievement accomplished by only an elite group of New Jersey hygienists.

Marykate is a registered dental assistant who has been a member of our team since 1992. She is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of dental treatment. Marykate’s kind spirit and compassionate touch help to make our patients feel comfortable and relaxed throughout their visit.

Jennifer is our front desk manager who has been a member of our team since 1994. She is in charge of keeping our office organized and running smoothly. She handles our schedule, facilitates financial arrangements, and aids with insurance processing. She attends to our administrative needs with poise, and all of our patients appreciate Jennifer’s patient and professional demeanor.

Virginija is a registered dental assistant who has been a member of our team since 2012. She helps us with confidence and ease throughout any dental procedure. Our patients truly appreciate Virginija's caring nature and gentle disposition.
