Dr. Canham graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry in 1993.
Dr. Canham practiced in a large group practice in suburban Chicago for 7 years before relocating to Hilton Head Island in 2000.
Once on Hilton Head Island, Dr. Canham purchased the practice Southern Smiles, located in a 900 square foot office located in the Courtyard Building just off of the Sea Pines Circle.
In 2005 Southern Smiles relocated to mid-island to the brand new Lifespan Building.
In 2013 Southern Smiles moved for a third time to our completely renovated, state of the art 3900 square foot facility at 15 Lafayette Place.
Dr. Canham practiced in a large group practice in suburban Chicago for 7 years before relocating to Hilton Head Island in 2000.

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit.
Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss.
X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.
Examine of intraoral photos: visual inspection of teeth, restorations and gums Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
