An alternative to veneers is a process called bonding, in which a tooth-colored material that looks like the enamel of your teeth is molded and shaped, and then hardened and polished.
Bonding can be used to improve the color of a tooth, or close unsightly gaps.
Bonding is generally not as permanent a process as veneers, and can be vulnerable to the same kind of staining your natural teeth are prone to.
Bonding can also be more prone to chips and cracks than veneers.
Caps are generally preferred to bonding when such a procedure isn't deemed to be effective in the long run.
Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth.
Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.
Bridges are sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, because they are semi-permanent and are bonded to existing teeth or implants.
There are several types of fixed dental bridges (cannot be removed), including conventional fixed bridges, cantilever bridges and resin-bonded bridges.
It is possible to prevent dental accidents, but when you are prepared to take control if one does occur can mean the difference between Emergency Dentistsaving and losing a tooth.
If a dental injury does occur to your teeth or oral tissues, call your emergency dentist immediately.
Many dentists allot time in their daily schedules for emergencies and are qualified to treat an array of dental injuries.
Falling down or suffering a hard hit to the face while participating in a sport or other recreational activity can result in the loss of one or multiple teeth.
Family dentistry is similar to general dentistry, as each provides services related to the general maintenance of oral hygiene and tooth health.
While both terms can be used interchangeably, there is a slight difference between the two.
There are certain dentists that restrict their practice to certain age groups, while a family dentist will typically care for the entire family-from young children to older adults.
Family dentistry is responsible for ensuring that plaque buildup around the teeth is kept to a minimum, that tooth decay is eliminated and cavities are filled, in order to maintain healthy smiles for the entire family.
Whether this is your child's first visit, a special dental need, or you've had an unpleasant experience elsewhere, we've got this.
We're here to make going to the dentist like a day at the park.
Think good times, new friends, and a whole lotta laughs.
And parents, you're welcome to stay with your child during the entire visit.
Going to the dentist can be scary for a child.
It doesn't have to be.
The earlier you introduce your child to the dentist, the more comfortable they'll be.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends children start going to the dentist by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth.
