We attempt to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available.
We prefer to schedule children under seven years of age and children with special needs during the morning hours for their comfort; school-aged children who require extensive treatment also do best having morning appointments.
Like physician visits, dental appointments are an excused absence from school and we will be happy to provide your child with an excuse note to take back to school.
Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.

When a child has a cavity in a front tooth we usually place a tooth-colored filling.
If, however, a child has a cavity in a front tooth and needs a baby-root canal, we need another option.
Traditionally when a primary tooth (baby tooth) needs a root canal, we restore the tooth with a stainless-steel crown.
In the front, however, we do not use stainless steel, as we want your child to be able to smile for pictures!
Instead, we use a strip crown - essentially an esthetic crown in the front that's specifically designed for baby teeth.

Even though baby teeth will frequently fall out on their own as the adult tooth underneath pushes its way into the mouth, there are times where a baby tooth needs to be extracted.
In general, we only try to replace missing or extracted baby teeth that will affect spacing and how the permanent teeth come in.
In these cases, we hold the needed space with an appliance known as a space maintainer.
Very deep cavities - if a tooth has deep decay we will often try to maintain the tooth with a baby root canal.

One of the conditions that we sometimes see in patients - even young patients - is GERD (Gastro-Intestinal Reflux Disease) or simply relfux.
Reflux is a condition whereby the content of the stomach are sometimes pushed back up the esophagus and into the oral cavity.
There are many causes of reflux, one of which being a problem with the sphincter - the "lid" that covers the stomach and protects the esophagus and mouth from the stomach's acidic fluids.
