I had always talked about dental hygiene, but landed a job sterilizing in orthodontics at the age of 19.
Thankfully I was encouraged to try my skills as an orthodontic assistant and assisted for 17 years.

She earned her Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1994.
In 1996, Dr. Cai completed two additional years of training in the specialty of orthodontics.
She then received her orthodontic certificate along with her Master of Science degree (MS) from Northwestern University.
