CEREC - CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic.
It is a system that ensures that dental restorations can be created in a single-visit.
It uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/manufacturing) for the fabrication of dental restorations.
It can be used to design dental implants, crowns, inlays and onlays, bridges and dentures etc.
Once the area in question has been given anaesthesia and prepared for the procedure, the dentist scans the tooth with the CEREC device.
The digital image produced is used to make a computerized design of the crown.
