X-ray examinations provide us with essential information about your child's teeth, roots, jaws, and other structures of the head and neck.
Our office is very sensitive to concerns about exposure to radiation and will reduce your child's exposure as much as possible.
We prescribe x-rays based on the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, our clinical expertise, and using the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Allowable).
All this being said we will not willfully supervise neglectful care of your child by allowing refusal of x-rays every time they are recommended.

Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age.
Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.

The office attempts to schedule at your convenience and when time is available however our primary concern is your child's well being.
We strive for the appointment time that will best suit your child's dental needs.
Typically we do not do restorative work at our initial exams or recall appointments (we schedule exactly the amount of time expected for your child's check-up)- On occasion if the schedule allows or if we see an emergent need, we will discuss with you completing treatment same day for everyone's convenience.
