When should I schedule my child's first visit to the dentist?
We recommend that you make an appointment to see the dentist as soon as your child gets his first tooth.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child is seen by 6 months after his/her first tooth erupts or by 1 year old, whichever is first.
Below are common questions and our answers about the best way to care for children's teeth.

If you are unsure, contact your pediatric dentist as soon as possible.
The baby tooth should not be put back in place to prevent the chance of damaging the developing adult tooth.
Chipped or fractured tooth?
Contact your pediatric dentist immediately.
For major fractures extending to the nerve of the tooth quick action may prevent infection and reduce the need for extensive dental treatment.
Rinse the mouth with water and apply cold compresses to reduce swelling if the lip also was injured.
