Services
Dr. Jeff is an American Board Certified orthodontic specialist.
He started his career as a general dentist in public health dentistry, before continuing his education in orthodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In addition to his work, he has spent the last fifteen years traveling abroad to remote areas of Nepal, Cambodia, and Guatemala providing dental care to underserved children.
Due to his varied background in both general dentistry and orthodontics, he has developed a broad approach to treatment that takes into account all aspects of the patient's oral health.
Knowing when orthodontic treatment is needed and selecting a treatment plan can be overwhelming.
Dr. Jeff and his team are happy to review with you when is the most ideal time to start treatment and what treatment options are best to meet your goals, whether that is Invisalign or traditional braces.
Our New Patient exam appointments are free of charge and we can answer all your questions and discuss treatment options.
As a courtesy, our team will verify your insurance benefits before your initial visit.
A crossbite occurs when the upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth, which may cause tooth stratification and misaligned jaw growth.
This results in an improper use of the lower jaws and sometimes makes the face uneven.
This is when the upper teeth extend too far forward or the lower teeth do not extending far enough forward.
This results in how the person looks and how they work.
Lower lip entrapment, a digit sucking habit, a deep bite, and/or a tongue tie when the upper front teeth extend too far forward, they are at risk of injury.
When bone growth is not in our favor, it is important to identify and treat these problems early.
Misaligned jaws and certain issues that are seen in children may be early signs of poor airway or unfavorable growth.
In early treatment, our focus is on getting bone growth and development on track.
We love seeing children at any age when parents or the general dentist believe there is a problem.
We prefer to see children by age seven, but we are happy to see children of all ages - if nothing more than to meet them.
Adolescence (ages 10-19) is the best time for orthodontic treatment, however in some cases an earlier intervention is recommended.
Generally, most of the permanent teeth are in by (10-13) years of age.
Once all adult teeth are present, we can start aligning the teeth and improving the bite and smile.
The need for orthodontic care does not improve over time.
As we age, crowding increases, we can start to see gums recede and other issues that were once minor become more pronounced and complex.
It is easier to treat many orthodontic conditions during adolescence because the body is still in a stage of rapid growth.
