She graduated from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana Magna Cum Laude with a Biology degree.
At Saint Mary's College, she founded Future Women Doctors, which delivered intercity elementary school programs to encourage young girls to pursue science and medicine.
She also was a captain and the starting pitcher for the NCAA Saint Mary's Belles Softball team.
In 2006, she was awarded the MIAA Conference MVP.
She completed her dental training and obtained her D.M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine in Charleston, South Carolina.
