Dental amalgam, or silver filling material, is a mixture of mercury, and an alloy of silver, tin and copper.
Once 'bound' by the hardening process, release of mercury in silver fillings is so small that it is much less than what patients are exposed to in food, air and water.
Studies with radioactive labeling of the mercury in amalgam have not found elevated mercury levels in the serum or blood after silver fillings are placed.
Silver fillings are not often used.
There are, however, other materials that can be used for restorations.

Your initial appointment usually will consist of a comprehensive examination, by the dentist, and review of your treatment options.
A full mouth series of digital xrays will be taken at that time, if you do not have a current set.
Treatment plans will be customized based on priority of treatment needs, as well as individual goals.
If you are experiencing pain that will be addressed before you leave the office.

Dr. Lee Baker has served as our family dentist for quite a while, proving his skills and caring manner.
I, in particular, have had more dental issues, including fillings, bridges, 4 implants, and most recently a crown.
Each procedure handled with expertise and minimal discomfort.
He has taken the fear our of going to the dentist, knowing I'm in good hands.
When I think of Br. Baker and his wonderful assistant and office staff, I can't help but Smile!
I can do that easily now, with confidence.
I know the best referral is by "word of mouth", no "tongue in cheek" intended.
