From as early as she could remember, Dr. Felicia Goins wanted to work in children's dentistry. So, after completing her residency in pediatric dentistry in 1985, Dr. Goins founded Carolina Children's Dentistry in Sumter, SC. She established the practice because she realized that there was a need for children to receive the best dental care in the state, especially in those rural areas where there are not many dentists practicing.

She practiced solo for almost 13 years before Dr. Lisbeth Poag joined her in 1998. The practice expanded to include a second location in Northeast Columbia in 2001. Today, Carolina Children's Dentistry has grown to include Dr. Shari Martin and Dr. Brian Han. They continue to render the highest level of pediatric and specialized dental care in a fun-loving and caring atmosphere.

They provide a full range of dental restorative and dental hygiene services for patients ranging from toddlers to age 18. Carolina Children's Dentistry believes that there is nothing more important than meeting the needs of children.

We look forward to making each visit to Carolina Children's Dentistry a special one for you and your child.
During your child's first visit, you will start with a private, one-on-one consultation in our New Patient Room.
This special room is set aside for our new patients so that your child's first appointment will be a special occasion, and it provides an opportunity for individual interaction among you, your child, the dental assistant, dental hygienist and dentist.
The Dentist and dental assistant will review your child's complete medical and dental history.
After feeding your baby, wipe their gums with a washcloth to remove any extra milk.
This will stimulate their gums, remove any extra particles, and get them used to the sensation of brushing early.
This will also make it easier when you introduce brushing later.
We have specialized finger-sized cloths that make this process easier.
Come by and pick one up!
To prevent milk from causing decay, it is also important to brush or clean the teeth and gums with a cloth after the last feeding at night.
Start brushing your child's teeth as soon as they come in.
