Services
Since the turn of the century, dentistry continues to undergo one of the greatest transformations we have seen.
Driven by new technology and responding to the needs of the people, dentistry is able to offer answers to problems unsolvable a few years ago.
Our practice continues to grow as well, adding the newest technology for your safety and comfort.
This technology enables immediate access to your x-rays and photos, and allows you to be directly involved in treatment decisions.
Many fillings can be done without anesthesia due to the addition of lasers in the dental field and computer assisted implants have revolutionized treatment.
Dr. Michael Zgoba completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois Chicago Campus.
He then attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C., where he received his dental degree in 1989.
Born and raised in Chicago, he returned to start his practice back in Illinois.
He found his dream in Fox River Grove with a family practice that had been providing the community with over thirty years of service.
Now twenty five years later, Dr. Zgoba strives to provide his patients with high quality of service and technology, utilizing digital radiography, laser dentistry, computer assisted implant treatment and crown milling technology.
You already know that maintaining good oral hygiene is important for everyone - but when you're having orthodontic treatment, it's even more critical.
Why? Because, while the appliances (such as braces or clear aligners) you may need to wear during treatment are very effective in correcting misaligned teeth, they can also trap food particles easily.
Keeping your teeth (and your appliances) clean is a little harder - but you can do it!
Here's a look at why good oral hygiene is so important during orthodontic treatment, and some tips on how you can keep it up.
Dentistry is an art as well as a science; dental crowns offer a perfect example of this.
A dental crown or "cap" is a covering that fits over a damaged, decayed or unattractive tooth.
It can even replace a tooth entirely as part of dental bridgework.
A crown completely covers a tooth above the gum line.
This is in contrast to a dental veneer, which only covers a tooth's front surface and needs natural tooth structure to support it.
Therefore, if a tooth is missing a significant amount of structure above the gum line, a crown would be the restoration of choice.
The main goal of dentistry is to preserve your natural teeth and keep them healthy for as long as possible.
There are times, however, when it is in your best interest (or your child's) to have a tooth extracted (removed).
This could be the case for a variety of reasons.
Perhaps you have a tooth that has been severely damaged by trauma or decay; or an impacted wisdom tooth that may cause trouble for you later on.
Maybe your teenager will soon undergo orthodontic treatment and has insignificant space for his adult teeth, referred to as crowding.
