Welcome to Pediatric Dentistry at Westport Dental Associates, where children come first, and where our Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Hannah Ahn and staff work together to provide exceptional dental care for the kids in the Westport area. We pride ourselves on providing compassionate, comprehensive services to children, and we're glad you've chosen us as your child's dental home.

Whether it's your child's first visit to our office or just a routine check-up, we strive to make sure you and your child are always comfortable and informed by creating a fun, friendly environment. We take the time to talk with parents to help you understand your child's needs. Dental Caries is the most common chronic disease of children. Nearly 50% of all children will have at least one cavity by the age of 5, and it is 5 times more common than asthma.

This disease can be PREVENTED by establishing a DENTAL HOME for your child at the age of ONE! Our first visit at the new office was last week. The kids have a positive experience every single time they go with Dr. Ahn, and their comfort and security there means that they will continue to respect their teeth!

Dental Caries is the most common chronic disease of children.

By making Pediatric Dentistry @ Westport Dental Associates your child's Dental Home, oral health care will be delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated and family-centered way.
Being part of a Dental Home enhances Dr. Hannah's ability to assist children and their parents in the quest for optimum oral health care, beginning with the age one dental visit.
Dental Cleanings/Examinations: Regular exams and dental cleanings are important parts of maintaining optimal oral health for your child.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have their first dental visit no later than the age of one.
During an exam we will do a complete intraoral and extraoral exam to evaluate for any problems or cavities.
Visiting our office every 6 months will give you the chance to talk to Dr. Hannah about any questions you have as your child continues to develop dentally.
Fluoride treatment: Fluoride has been proven to be an effective treatment in preventing tooth decay.
It also helps prevent plaque from building up and hardening on the tooth's surface.
A fluoride treatment in a dentist's office takes just a few minutes.
After the treatment, your child may be asked not to rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes in order to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride.
BPA-free sealants: Sealants are typically applied to children's teeth as a preventive measure against tooth decay after the permanent teeth have erupted.
Mercury-free white fillings: In the event your child does have a cavity that requires restoration, we provide white, tooth colored restorations.
Dr. Hannah will review your child's individual treatment needs and will recommend white fillings when appropriate.
Pediatric crowns: Sometimes your child may have a cavity on the "baby" tooth that has been there for a long time.
The decay can destroy a significant amount of tooth structure.
When this happens a white filling is no longer the best choice to restore the tooth.
Nitrous Oxide ("Laughing Gas"): Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as "laughing gas", is a safe and effective technique to help calm a child's fear of the dental visit.
When inhaled, "laughing gas" is absorbed by the body and has a calming effect.
Your child will smell a sweet, pleasant aroma and experience a sense of well-being and relaxation.
If your child is worried by the sights, sounds, or sensations of dental treatment, he or she may respond more positively with the use of nitrous oxide.
While inhaling nitrous oxide, your child remains fully conscience, keeps all natural reflexes, and is aware of his/her surroundings.
